Request for Proposals: Healthcare District Seeks Mobile Medical Clinics Operator
The Desert Healthcare District & Foundation is seeking a licensed healthcare provider to manage and operate its mobile medical clinics.
Launched in 2021, the mobile medical program includes two fully equipped mobile clinics. The operator, which will be selected through a Request for Proposals, will be responsible for providing comprehensive operational, clinical, and administrative management of the mobile clinic program.
The program is integral to the District & Foundation's commitment to increase equitable access to healthcare services across the Coachella Valley.
"What began as essential outreach to our community during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic has proven to be a highly effective tool that consistently removes barriers to quality healthcare for our residents," said Donna Craig, Interim CEO and Chief Program Officer.
The mobile clinic program also is one way the District & Foundation is expanding its role beyond traditional grantmaking. Earlier this year, the Board and staff adopted a new five-year strategic plan (2027-2031) that positions the organization as a regional health system amplifier, convener and leader.
Mobile Program Aligns with New Strategic Plan
The strategic plan includes four pillars or priority areas. This Request for Proposals aligns with Pillar 2 (Access and Awareness):
- Goal 2.1 (Awareness): Increase community awareness of the health services and resources available across the District. Key Initiative 2.1.1 (Connected Care Navigation): Support a coordinated, culturally responsive approach to health awareness and navigation so residents can more easily understand what services and resources exist and be connected to them across the District.
- Goal 2.2 (Access): Reduces structural barriers that prevent residents from obtaining necessary medical and behavioral healthcare. Key Initiative 2.2.2 (High-Need Access Expansion): Prioritizes funding for innovative, community-based care delivery models that expand access for underserved populations, ensuring services are timely, accessible, and culturally responsive regardless of financial or geographic constraints.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit and tax-exempt organization, a governmental, tribal, or public entity, including healthcare service providers such as federally qualified health centers, and local clinics.
- Directly serve Coachella Valley residents living within the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation’s boundaries.
- Have current audited financial statements.
Organizations are encouraged to ensure that all application requirements are met and submitted by the deadline to be considered for funding.
