NONPROFIT SPOTLIGHT: FIND Food Bank easing hunger across the Coachella Valley

FIND – the only regional food bank serving eastern Riverside and southern San Bernardino counties – distributes more than 12 million pounds of food each year.

Typically, FIND serves about 90,000 people each month. But since the coronavirus pandemic and its devastating economic impact on low-income residents, the agency is serving more than 125,000 individuals who aren’t sure where their next meal will come from.

FIND Food Bank is continuing to give away groceries through its 28 Mobile Market Distributions and more than 66 community partners whose programs include food pantries, soup kitchens, after-school and summer care, senior centers, faith-based organizations, and homeless shelters.

FIND Food Bank receives funding from numerous sources, including Desert Healthcare District. The organization’s largest fundraiser, an annual telethon, was pre-taped and streamed to audiences on April 3 because of social distancing requirements. The 10th annual event raised over $551,000 – more than triple last year’s total – and the money has been put to immediate use.
