Healthcare District invites community input on rezoning

DHCD Boundary Map Expanded 2018

The Board will conduct its fourth public hearing on rezoning the District from five to seven geographic zones during its monthly meeting. Each zone will have a Director who's elected to the Board.

The public hearing allows attendees to view and provide feedback on four proposed rezoning maps: Agave 2Cholla 2, and an interactive map. Prepared by the National Demographics Corporation, the maps reflect community input from hearings in April, May and September.

The Board's goal is to ultimately approve a final map by the end of 2019. Four of the seven current Board seats will be up for election in 2020.

The public hearing will take place:

About the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation

The Desert Healthcare District is a local government agency formed in 1948. Its mission is to achieve optimal health at all stages of life for all District residents. The District includes more than 400,000 residents and encompasses the entire Coachella Valley. The District and Desert Healthcare Foundation, together, are one of the largest funders in the valley. These funds are used to assist residents — especially the underserved — in accessing vitally needed resources, such as primary and behavioral healthcare, housing, food and transportation resources.
