Desert Healthcare District & Foundation CEO Conrado Bárzaga Will Participate in National Public Health Week event

With a theme that proclaims, "Public Health is Where You Are," National Public Health Week kicks off Monday, April 4, across the U.S.

The American Public Health Association (APHA) has planned a number of web events, forums and presentations to spotlight the state of public health (present and past) and the myriad ways public health agencies contribute to their communities.

Dr. Conrado E. Barzaga, CEO of the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation (pictured), will be among the esteemed participants during the kickoff forum Monday. Other participants include Kaye Bender, RN, PhD, president of the American Public Health Association, and Bernadette Lim, MS, founder of Freedom School for Intersectional Medicine and Health Justice. The forum begins at 10 a.m. (Pacific Standard Time).

Events will continue throughout the week, concluding April 10. The topics range from "Equity and Accessibility in Community: Lessons in the Pandemic and Beyond" to "Community: Collaboration and Resilience," to "Conquering Communicable Diseases: Experts Tell Their Stories" and "The Legacy of National Negro Health Week." Many events have complimentary tickets, but registration is required. Learn more here.

APHA is celebrating its 150th year and scheduling informative, engaging events throughout the year to commemorate the milestone.
