The public is welcome to attend on Tuesday, March 25, the Desert Healthcare District & Foundation's monthly Board meetings, which will take place in Palm Desert. Virtual attendance is also an option (Please see below for details).

The District portion of the meeting will begin at 4 p.m. (PST), an earlier start time that was recently approved by the Board. It will be immediately followed by the Foundation meeting and a Special Board meeting. All meetings are governed by the same seven-member Board of Directors.

Here are a few expected highlights from the agenda items the Board will consider:

  • Grant #1496 request for $86,250 from the Carreón Foundation, which since 1991 has provided financial assistance to local students pursuing higher education. It will fund support services and $5,000 scholarships for 15 students pursuing healthcare careers, specifically aimed at juniors, seniors, and postgraduate students.
  •  Update on healthcare services outreach to vulnerable communities through the District & Foundation's mobile medical clinics program.
  • The District & Foundation's new Legislative Policy Committee gives it first report to the full Board.

Following the monthly meetings, a Special Board meeting will be called to order at 5:30 p.m.

About the Desert Healthcare District & Foundation

The Desert Healthcare District is a local government agency formed in 1948. Its mission is to achieve optimal health at all stages of life for all District residents. The District includes more than 400,000 residents and encompasses the entire Coachella Valley. The District and Desert Healthcare Foundation, together, are one of the largest funders in the valley. These funds are used to assist residents — especially the underserved — in accessing vitally needed resources, such as primary and behavioral healthcare. Learn more.
