Message from the President

Welcome to the website of the Desert Healthcare District. It is my hope that you find it useful to your needs. Please do not hesitate to contact us via this website or by telephone if your questions are not fully answered, you would like copies of District documents or if you need further help. It is our goal to make the District entirely open and transparent.

The mission of the District is simple: To promote good health for the District's residents by providing community grants and by protecting and enhancing the assets of the District. We hold these assets under a charitable trust that requires us to remain dedicated to our purposes and to protect all of these assets, including Desert Regional Medical Center, for the benefit of the community.

The five members of our board are elected by you, the residents of the communities we serve, and we remain fully accountable to you. The District's service area encompasses 457 square miles and includes the cities of Desert Hot Springs, Thousand Palms, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert (west of Cook Street), and extends into Mountain Center.

The District budgets more than $3 million each year for grants to non-profit organizations and for health-related programs. Many of these non-profits--offering essential services to our community--could not exist without public support. Our grant funding is linked to fulfillment of the District's strategic plan which focuses on enhancing the health of our residents, our most important concern.
